About Us

Proflek Coatings was founded in 2005 by Garry Ashford, who started his career as a qualified Waterproofer, and then later found an interest in Epoxy Flooring. Initially taught by a master of the trade with over 30 years’ experience in Brisbane, Garry and the Proflek Coatings’ team expanded quickly, along with their reputation of being reliable, honest, hardworking, clean tradesmen.
Garry and Proflek Coatings company are both licensed through the Queensland Building Services Authority in Waterproofing and Epoxy Flooring, and have become well known and respected within the flooring industry.

Proflek Coatings only use high end products giving the best result to our clients. Many installers in today’s economic climate are looking for the cheaper alternative using water based products or solvent based products thinned down with up to 40% thinners, leaving little product on the floor. All our Flake floors are finished with a high end Urethane, containing UV Stabilizers, ensuring that, for years to come, the colour of the floor is locked in and won’t yellow or age over time.
When comparing quotations, ensure that you compare apples with apples. A quick cheap job now will inevitably need to be re-done within a short period of time. A good Epoxy Floor takes time to do and will stand the test of time.

Whether you have 36m2 or 10,000m2, we have your best interest in mind. We rely on word of mouth for advertising, therefore it is in our best interest to make you happy. We guarantee our work.

Apples are not always apples!

  • In recent times Epoxy Systems have been compared to Polyaspartic Polyurea Systems.

Polyurea Systems may be applied quicker than an Epoxy System but there is no comparison in the finished product. The quick cure products cure so quickly that, in our opinion, they don't penetrate as deep into the substrate as an epoxy that cures more slowly does.

Some advantages of Epoxy are better adhesion, higher scuff / chemical resistance and better longevity of the coating. Polyurea base coats typically are applied at 130-150 micron, while our epoxy typically is applied at 300 micron per coat meaning more product on the floor giving longevity to the coating.

Polyaspartic Polyurea is, at this stage, unproven over time in Australian conditions. Whereas Epoxy systems have been proven over decades of applications and use. Epoxy systems have been used successfully for many years on floors such as trucking facilities, airplane hangers, commercial kitchens and residential applications.

Don’t be fooled by the quick installation. A good long lasting floor takes time to install.
If you would like to compare the finished coatings, please contact us and we can arrange a time for you to view samples of both products.
It will be an easy decision from there.
